Southern Water understands that our customers may experience financial problems particularly in these difficult economic times.

This section describes the schemes we can offer which may help customers who are having problems with their water bill.

WaterSure 
You may be entitled to a reduction in your bill if you have a water meter and use a large amount of water. To qualify you must satisfy certain criteria.

Water Direct 
If you are claiming Income Support, Jobseekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance, or Pension Credit, Jobcentre Plus may consider paying us directly out of your benefits.

NewStart 
If you are able to start paying what you owe for the current year by regular instalments Southern Water will pay the same amount for you from your arrears.

Southern Water Charitable Trust Fund 
The Southern Water Charitable Trust Fund can offer financial assistance in cases of extreme hardship.

Metering programme
Under a five year programme lasting until 2015, we are installing water meters for the majority of our customers to help secure water resources.

We have developed a range of tariffs to give customers who have a meter installed under this programme time to adapt to metered charges and make sure that bills remain affordable.
