Meeting high standards - and exceeding expectations

Southern Water is committed to providing the very best standards of customer care and we work hard to ensure that we always offer our customers good value for money.

Our state-of-the-art control centre works in tandem with our call centre to ensure we answer the 5,000 daily customer enquiries personally, and deal with all emergencies with even greater speed and efficiency.

Each year we work with Ofwat to set Guaranteed Standards for most routine tasks, which, in many cases are backed by a financial guarantee.

Southern Water's commitment to its customers also extends to the investments we make to improve services and supplies around the South East. We have to meet independently set high standards of quality and we work hard to exceed these while keeping our charges reasonable.

The stringent standards we have to meet are set by the European Union (EU)* and by the UK Government*, and are monitored by independent watchdogs, such as the Environment Agency (EA)* and the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI)*. The investments we make to meet these standards are financed by the charges we levy for supplying and recycling water for our customers.
